Pros

Intelligent colleagues, working on projects to improve peoples' lives.

Cons

Been with MITRE over 20 years. In 2011 they cut our vacation accrual by 2 days and the retirement match from 33% to 25% and made a few other benefit reductions. This was "sold" to staff as a necessary cut to keep our fringe costs from making MITRE unaffordable to our sponsors. First, the fringe cost isn't the only factor in the equation, but it's the one they keep going after. Fast forward to 2023 and this time they only targeted staff with 9+ years of experience and are reducing vacation time by 4 days a year. This is demotivating to all staff because now there's zero incentive to stay with MITRE. Even low paying blue-collar jobs tend to have increasing benefits as one gains seniority and experience. This is just the most recent in a series of upper management blunders. I really miss the MITRE I joined where employees were appreciated and the silly goal of "good growth" wasn't pushing us into situations like this.

Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at MITRE. The people here are incredibly intelligent, collaborative, and mission-focused. There is a strong culture of knowledge sharing, and I’ve enjoyed learning from so many talented coworkers across the organization. The Talent Acquisition leadership team has been outstanding. Alicia, Rachel, Manda, and Mindy have created a supportive and empowering environment, and they genuinely care about their teams and the candidate experience. Their leadership, accessibility, and willingness to invest in others make a real difference. MITRE offers meaningful work, a healthy work-life balance, and opportunities to continue growing professionally.

Cons

As with any large organization, processes can sometimes move slowly, and navigating a matrixed environment may take time. However, the collaborative culture and supportive leadership help make these challenges manageable.
