Pros

A small percentage of projects (maybe 10%) are doing impactful work for our government sponsors

Cons

Oy vey, where to begin? I urge you to read the reviews titled "Executive Leadership is destroying the company", "Racing to the bottom", and "SETA company dressed as an FFRDC", each of which were entered on 1/18/23 after the CEO suggested in an all-hands call that we compare MITRE reviews to reviews of other companies on Glassdoor. There are problems at MITRE that we are not even talking about. Many of our employees could not create a good analytical product to save their lives - - instead we do "PowerPoint engineering" very poorly: Slide after slide of paragraphs of badly composed text that NO ONE wants to read. I.e., our deliverables many times are garbage. As a result of this, many of our sponsor orgs start to see MITRE as just another SETA contractor company, instead of the strategic thought-leaders we once were a generation ago. Why the low quality deliverables? Why the projects that have no discernable impact on improving sponsor missions? Because NO ONE in the management chain seems to care about these internally created problems. There are some exceptions, but for the most part the MITRE leadership structure has embraced a culture of mediocrity.

Pros

I’ve had a very positive experience working at MITRE. The people here are incredibly intelligent, collaborative, and mission-focused. There is a strong culture of knowledge sharing, and I’ve enjoyed learning from so many talented coworkers across the organization. The Talent Acquisition leadership team has been outstanding. Alicia, Rachel, Manda, and Mindy have created a supportive and empowering environment, and they genuinely care about their teams and the candidate experience. Their leadership, accessibility, and willingness to invest in others make a real difference. MITRE offers meaningful work, a healthy work-life balance, and opportunities to continue growing professionally.

Cons

As with any large organization, processes can sometimes move slowly, and navigating a matrixed environment may take time. However, the collaborative culture and supportive leadership help make these challenges manageable.
