Pros

You learn very quickly how not to treat people and what not to do as a leader. Great place to motivate you to want better for yourself.

Cons

MMGY is private equity owned and from what I’ve seen MMGY checks all the boxes of the standard PE operating playbook, acquire, cut costs, slash pay and benefits, increased workloads, degrading culture, mass layoffs, then sell at profit at the end. PE ownership is generally bad for employees by design. The incentive structure prioritizes investor returns over people and the cycle usually isn’t long enough for them to invest in staff. The CEO’s message on this was made clear in an all company meeting, if you don't like it, leave. This statement is the opposite of leadership, it’s complete indifference to how staff feels or that they might have any concerns. It’s someone who's run out of answers and stopped pretending to care. If you are reading this because your company was just acquired by MMGY, I’d run fast.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We're sorry to hear that your experience has led you to feel this way. It's clear from your comments that you have concerns about the direction of the company, leadership decisions, and the impact those decisions have on employees. While we recognize that not everyone will agree with every decision that is made, we believe it's important to acknowledge that there are often many factors that influence business decisions, and employees may not always have visibility into the full context behind them. You also referenced remarks made during a company-wide meeting. We understand that messages shared during periods of change can be interpreted in different ways, particularly when viewed through the lens of personal experience. Our intention is always to communicate openly and transparently, even when the topics being discussed are difficult or complex. Regarding your comments about private equity ownership and its impact on the business, MMGY Global has operated under private equity ownership for many years, and throughout that time we have continued to invest in our people, serve our clients, grow our capabilities, and expand our global footprint. While there may be differing opinions about ownership structures and business strategy, our focus remains on building a strong, sustainable organization for our employees, clients, and partners. As a current employee, we encourage you to continue sharing your concerns with your manager, HR representative, or COE leader. Open and constructive dialogue remains one of the most important ways we can better understand employee perspectives and continue moving forward together. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

Pros

They manage to get good people in the door, but never for long.

Cons

Working at this organization, I experienced a huge contrast between their stated core values and the reality of daily operations. They claim to be "INCLUSIVE," emphasizing the importance of embracing differences and growing together. In practice, initiatives like the DEI council and ERGs were undermined by a lack of leadership involvement and significant roadblocks imposed by the Chief of Staff, rendering them ineffective.   Their commitment to "EMPOWERING" employees seemed empty, as opportunities to shine were contingent on overworking oneself, with credit often stolen by management/leadership while any minor mistake was quickly criticized. "CURIOUS" was another core value, emphasizing a relentless pursuit of new ideas for groundbreaking success. In reality, the organization leaned heavily on recycling past campaigns, showing little genuine interest in innovative thinking.   The value of being "CREATIVE" was not upheld, as the organization was resistant to implementing solutions that would disrupt the status quo, favoring a return to outdated practices. Lastly, their claim to be "TRANSFORMATIVE" by seeking new opportunities and embracing change felt disingenuous. Leadership often only embraced change when it served their personal agendas and the pursuit of accolades, rarely showing up to genuinely support initiatives they suggested implementing.   Ultimately, the organization's leadership frequently took credit for employee-driven solutions, convincing employees that these experiences were building resumes and offering career opportunities. While there was some truth to this, a significant portion of the efforts felt wasted and did not contribute to personal or professional growth. Under the new CEO's leadership, the organization appears to be cultivating followers rather than nurturing leaders, leaving employees feeling disillusioned and undervalued.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a thoughtful and detailed review. We genuinely appreciate your candid feedback. We take feedback like this seriously and make a point to share themes and insights from reviews with our leadership team. It’s important for us to understand where experiences may not be lining up with what we aim to create, even when those experiences aren’t universal. We talk a lot about our core values, and it’s clear from your perspective that we didn’t consistently bring those to life in a way that felt meaningful to you. That’s something we continue to work on—both in how we support our teams and how we communicate about opportunities, expectations, and growth. At the same time, we recognize that experiences can vary widely depending on team, role, and timing, and there is often more context behind decisions than what may be visible day to day. That said, your feedback is important and part of the ongoing conversations we’re having as we continue to evolve. Thank you again for your contributions during your time here. We wish you all the best moving forward.
