Pros

1. Some (keyword: some) hardworking and talented people. 2. A paycheck, but it is so little compared to other similar roles in the industry it is laughable. 3. Forget business school, you can learn how not to run a business while getting paid to work here. 4. Industry connections to find a better job. Anything else is questionable, given the fake smiling faces at all levels desperate to hold on to employees on this sinking ship while simultaneously bad mouthing them behind their backs.

Cons

The entire agency is a con. Save yourself the trouble (and PTSD), but if you're some kind of masochist jump aboard for an endless ride to hades as MMGY Global tries to live up to its "global" name by acquiring ignorant agencies who quickly realize what a terrible decision it was to sell their brand and reputation to this false advertisement. From Kansas City to New York and LA, leaders are stuck in a collegiate mentality and you're basically told if you don't like to drink, don't work there during the interview process. Favoritism is beyond the average corporate environment to the point that they haze and pit employees against each other to prove themselves at every turn like a third rate sorority house. You'll play their game to succeed, but not a single one can be trusted except as it relates to their own personal advancement. And, oh, you'll be put in situations to use your sexuality to advance with management and clients (out of scope, with no added fee, of course - this isn't the Bunny Ranch per se). MMGY claims to be a travel industry leader, yet gives very little opportunities for employees to explore the world/enjoy vacations or even the coveted half-day Fridays due to overwhelming amounts of work from the high turnover rate. Clients are then left clueless as to why reps suddenly disappear/aren't responding when they have gone on to vastly better opportunities without being notified. Upper management is absolutely brain dead making even the simplest of situations embarrassingly complicated. Lacks knowledge on how to run day to day operations and sticks their head in the sand while staff members struggle without any direction, motivation or inspiration before ultimately quitting without another job- better homeless than on staff there.

Pros

You learn very quickly how not to treat people and what not to do as a leader. Great place to motivate you to want better for yourself.

Cons

MMGY is private equity owned and from what I’ve seen MMGY checks all the boxes of the standard PE operating playbook, acquire, cut costs, slash pay and benefits, increased workloads, degrading culture, mass layoffs, then sell at profit at the end. PE ownership is generally bad for employees by design. The incentive structure prioritizes investor returns over people and the cycle usually isn’t long enough for them to invest in staff. The CEO’s message on this was made clear in an all company meeting, if you don't like it, leave. This statement is the opposite of leadership, it’s complete indifference to how staff feels or that they might have any concerns. It’s someone who's run out of answers and stopped pretending to care. If you are reading this because your company was just acquired by MMGY, I’d run fast.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We're sorry to hear that your experience has led you to feel this way. It's clear from your comments that you have concerns about the direction of the company, leadership decisions, and the impact those decisions have on employees. While we recognize that not everyone will agree with every decision that is made, we believe it's important to acknowledge that there are often many factors that influence business decisions, and employees may not always have visibility into the full context behind them. You also referenced remarks made during a company-wide meeting. We understand that messages shared during periods of change can be interpreted in different ways, particularly when viewed through the lens of personal experience. Our intention is always to communicate openly and transparently, even when the topics being discussed are difficult or complex. Regarding your comments about private equity ownership and its impact on the business, MMGY Global has operated under private equity ownership for many years, and throughout that time we have continued to invest in our people, serve our clients, grow our capabilities, and expand our global footprint. While there may be differing opinions about ownership structures and business strategy, our focus remains on building a strong, sustainable organization for our employees, clients, and partners. As a current employee, we encourage you to continue sharing your concerns with your manager, HR representative, or COE leader. Open and constructive dialogue remains one of the most important ways we can better understand employee perspectives and continue moving forward together. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
