Otherwise you have to burn yourself working hard and others don't but at the end of the day you get paid the same so why work harder Your outstanding performance or good evaluations mean nothing when a new manager or partner comes along. you have to rebuild everything from scratch. Vice versa, if you were not good performer during the previous manager period, but you were able to click somehow with the new one you could get a promotion without taking consideration of how long you have been there or what you were up to before
