Pros

Great pay but you will always be working yourself to death. Especially if you’re a manager looking to move up, they will make sure of it. Freedom to build your team and customer base. Kitchen operations are fun even though they never let you scehdule the right amount of people.

Cons

The job is not as “fun” as advertised. In busier locations it feels like you’re short staffed all the time. They expect you to do two or three stations at a time for hours on end without making a mistake. When someone calls out whole operation fails. Company treats doing dishes and keeping a clean restaurant as an after thought. There is no labor allotted to ensure stores are clean and food safe. Just like there’s no labor allotted to do training videos. So if guests wonder why the stores are dirty and the team can’t keep up. Well we are purposefully short staffed and the company has made no actual investment in having clean restaurants and well trained employees. I think what people don’t get is MOD exploits its employees to keep the build your own price low for customers.

Pros

Fun place to work, fast paced environment, often pleasant coworkers, flexible schedule, decent tips, great location.

Cons

Original family that started the chain had to sell (2004). The corporation that bought it seems to be trying to run it into the ground. Took away benefits and perks from employees, swapped out higher quality products for cheap, low quality products, and to cut their own costs down, won't allow enough team members to work a shift, leaving us short handed and overworked. Customers paid the price by having excessive wait times for their food and frequently walked out. It was embarrassing! Our store didn't have a manager for a full year, which only added fuel to the fire. What started out as one of my favorite jobs of all time turned into nothing less than a nightmare.
