Pros
Good pay for entry level positions
Cons
A lot of less profitable companies demonstrate more employee appreciation than MP Materials does. They buy everyone lunch once a month and that is the extent of their employee appreciation program, other than the bare minimum holiday parties. MP wants to position itself as a leader in the rare earth trade market but is unwilling to waiver on its outdated employee relations policies. In a world where employees have more options than ever, the current HR treats its employees like they are lucky to have a job here in the first place. Being subjected to freezing temperatures in the winter and extreme heat in the summer is not something most people would consider lucky to be a part of. Getting to work is a challenge in and of itself at times as well. Black ice in the winter and long traffic jams during the summer months. Yes you are expected to show up and be on time. Most of the hill is driving in open golf carts all year round, day and night. Why can’t this company afford vehicles to protect its employees from the natural elements? Progression is also a complain of a majority of the work force. High turnover due to the unforgiving drive leads you to believe that promotions and heavy responsibilities are the norm for anyone who has been there over 6 months. You would be mistaken, capable employees are often stuck in their positions due to difficulty of finding and keeping competent employees. There is also not enough communication between the operations department and engineering departments. Often decisions are made without consulting the experts, which goes both ways for both departments.
