•Workplace culture can be very political, with promotions often linked more to favouritism than merit. •Management style was at times overly micro-managerial, creating unnecessary stress rather than trust. •Diversity and inclusion were not always genuinely embraced — at times I felt undermined because of my background. •The handling of maternity leave and return-to-work was especially disappointing.
