Pros

Some incredibly smart, kind, and funny people work at Macmillan. They do care about students and instructors and try to tailor products to customer needs. There are some professional development opportunities but they benefit those early in their careers the most.

Cons

Unfortunately management is tailoring to customers' needs by working far more heavily on the digital product platform and investing heavily in fixing shortcomings of the platform In finding more sophisticated ways to market it then developing the substantial content that so many instructors really want to work with. As a result a good number of very talented people are being laid off in Spring 2024. Marketing remains bloated, however, And it's only a matter of time before they realize that they've been spending too much on marketing to get so little in return. Also this is not a place to very easily grow your career beyond the first couple of steps in the ladder if you work in content development.

Got this job a month before the pandemic and the transition to remote was easy and organized. My contracted role was extended serveral times and the team was very helpful as references for future work.
