Pros
Minimal paperwork compared to other counseling positions, however this is the result of the DOD contract not Magellan's SOP. A pleasure to work with military families.
Cons
This position requires advanced degrees and past experience. That said, MFLCs are treated as entry level counselors might be, micromanaged and undervalued. Supervisors are remote, and often uninformed regarding Program and contract details. Communication with HR and IT is difficult to make, therefore leaving us in remote locations without support. Supervisors will not "have your back", in the position where the entities where you will be assigned, often resent your presence. You will gain little to no relevant professional experience in this position and there is NO advancement opportunities. Only 6 PTO days per year, yes really!
