Pros

There are good people here, and if you’re lucky, you’ll be able to work with (or for them.

Cons

I have been with this company for a decade now and have seen the company passed around numerous owners, churned through two CEOs, and undergone several restructurings and layoffs. Morale is at an all time low now as the company drives to replace ideas with consultants, processes with half-baked automations, and people with outsourced workers who are paid poorly even by the standards of the region. The company knows this, but rather than doing anything materially meaning about it, they will give you a mental health app subscription and suggest that you to cope. The culture is extremely unhealthy. Collaboration is more often punished than rewarded, and projects are set-up to fail from the onset due to a lack of management buy-in and funding. Many of the areas of the business are outwardly hostile to each other, emboldened by the behavior of their Director or VP. If you require interaction beyond your department, you are unlikely to get much support here as there isn’t much incentive for leadership to act outside of their fief’s narrow interest. Skill and professional development opportunities are nearly non-existent. It just isn’t one of the company’s goal’s to build a body of knowledge. Little effort is put into cross-functional sharing, no investment into R&D, and not much appreciation for internal innovation. The company, however, is glad to hire armies of third-rate consultants to compensate. Also, the benefits are atrocious. The healthcare is too expensive to actually use, with many of the plans having a high premium, deductible, copay, and co-insurance. The company leadership has been asked about this, and their response was concerning, to say the least.

Pros

Ability to work with FAANG company with opportunity for transition to FTE. Very responsive team to any questions.

Cons

Contract work, so role may or may not be renewed depending on company needs. Not really a con, just the nature of the job. Very few PTO days.

Pros

They pay you regularly - that is about it

Cons

They are only interested in their own bottom line and explained nothing to me when I was brought in by their client for a contract but needed to be paid and actually employed via Magnit. They employed me as a W2 and I didn't realize it was an option to go in as a contract 1099 - which would have increase my net significantly, since I have an LLC set up and have been doing taxes as self employed for several years. They didn't let me know that I should be on benefits and sent me no paperwork to enroll. The amount of money they saved from me not collecting benefits is terrible along with what I was paying for healthcare etc. I have to leave the client early because of the issues with Magnit even though they would like me to stay for an additional year.
