There are a number of friendly, highly skilled and intelligent employees who I am happy to call my colleagues. The office is great – well located and well furnished.
Cons
I often think back to the day that I joined blur, full of hope and anticipation that I would be part of an ambitious, fast-paced and growing company. How times (and my opinion of the company!) have changed. I must re-iterate a number of other posts on this page, which allude to a potentially fantastic business idea that is being failed by incompetent management. From my early days at blur it was clear that there was a culture of fear which reigned supreme in this company. There are certain people at the top of the management chain who are both intimidating and narcissistic. These people surround themselves with yes-men and nodding dogs, which results in a top-level management structure which is quite frankly inept. Any employees who break the mould, voices any opinions of discontent or have ambitions of progressing in their career tend to be swiftly out of the exit door before you can blink. This has led to a staggeringly high level of staff turnover and apathy among the remaining employees. There are few, if any, employee benefits to speak of. Stat. minimum holiday, no bonus, no paid overtime, no pension scheme, no staff training. Oh, there is free pizza and fruit, if you’re willing to call that a significant benefit. Just to note, I wouldn’t typically leave a review on a website like this, but seen as management are driving for as many (positive) reviews as possible on Glassdoor, I thought I’d counterbalance those positive reviews with my honest depiction of life at blur so that any prospective new joiners have a fully informed view.
