Good people, tough market - VP Products Malwarebytes Employee Review

Pros

Overall, the company is a nice place to work: culture is good, and your benefits and compensation relatively comparable. They've done a great job taking care of employees through the pandemic.

Cons

The EDR and EP space is a red ocean, and differentiation at this point is tough. Large enterprises don't want yet another agent on their endpoints, and Symantec and McAffee have won the EP market. The EDR market is owned by Crowdstrike and this leaves less room for the smaller guys, like Malwarebytes. Finally, with a focus on SMBs, and 50% of SMBs going out of business is 5 years, you have to keep filling top of funnel, and with the current recession (2022), it's rough out there.

Pros

Very supportive managers and a fun, highly collaborative team. The department fosters an environment where ideas are openly shared and opportunities for improvement are discussed constructively without toxicity. Truly the best company I’ve worked for so far.

Cons

The interview process was somewhat lengthy, and salary discussions were not entirely consistent.

Pros

It was okay before the favoritism and gender pay gaps

Cons

There is a lot of favoritism. When I found out I was making far less than a male coworker in the same role with less years of experience, they did nothing to rectify the situation. Also, the CEO is far too involved in Product and dictates rather than collaborates
