Pros

In general, the people who work at Manatee Memorial are friendly. If you pass someone in the hallway you will almost always get a hello or similar greeting. Structural updates have been made such as the new employee cafeteria.

Cons

Excessive overtime or being asked to do 10 hours of work in 8 hours. No recognition for a job well done. Employees, especially nurses, with many years of experience are finding themselves without jobs. I worked there for over 3 years. When I first started, the workload was reasonable for the small number of people in my department. When I left, the workload had doubled but there was no additional help to be hired in sight.

Pros

Co workers are amazing and are what keep most of us there. Close to my home

Cons

Management and higher ups are unhelpful and do nothing to help with short staffing and nurse and patient safety. They are more worried about lining their pockets than safely staffing the units or paying adequately. They will pay huge sign on bonuses to under qualified nurses and refuse to pay retention bonuses to the rest of the staff left picking up the pieces when they make mistakes or leave as soon as their contract is up. Everything is broken, ceilings are always leaking, toilets backed up and smell of sewage, one of the elevators was out for order for 2+ years while they kept building freestanding ERs.
