Suffering culture and morale - Human Resources Marathon Petroleum Employee Review

Pros

There are good people that are working to improve the culture and morale. DE&I has come a long way at Marathon.

Cons

Marathon has failed to adapt to the post-COVID workplace expectations and the expectations of new generations joining the workforce. Unfortunately, much of leadership remains out-of-touch with what other industries are doing, as they have historically only benchmarked with other oil and gas companies. As a result, really talented people are leaving and it didn't feel like leadership was concerned or that there was any action planning for improving culture and morale. Promotions and compensation are based on years of service/tenure, not necessarily performance. Still a feeling of a good ol' boys club in many areas of the company

Pros

There is a new CHRO in 2026. My rating is on former leadership. So glad someone saw how toxic the former CHRO was and she Is no longer there.

Cons

Unfortunately, it took 8 years and the loss of several great employees to see her behavior.
