Pros

You will most likely enjoy your coworkers. They all seemed nice and fun to work with. You get a discount (nothing that great, but it is the only benefit to speak of).

Cons

The pay is obviously sub-par. That is probably not a surprise to anyone looking into jobs in retail. You can get countless retail jobs in the area that not only pay more, but also have benefits and opportunities for growth. I know. I cut ties and went to another retail job in the area before graduating and getting a "real" (non-retail) job. Benefits at Marathon Sports seemed worse than any other company I, or anyone I know, have worked for. There is no 401K, nothing above the Mass require health insurance, I think five days of vacation after working a year or more (employees that have worked there since the store opened can't even use their minimal vacation days when they want to use them!), and no consistency or flexibility in scheduling! That is just what comes to mind, and I left on my own accord. I'm not a scorn employee that was fired or let go, and I never had any problems or issues while there. I by no means liked the company or the job at the time, but I now realize how horrible it is there and what a joke this company is. They under-staff their stores so poorly that customers walk out, you work like a slave, and you never get a chance to take a break. They don't even give you the option to take a break on weekends! I'm not sure if that is even allowed. At my next job in the Boston area they not only required us to take breaks but payed time and a half on Sundays. They did not pay time and a half just for the hell of it; they said it was required by law. I don't think Marathon Sports is following local labor laws. Someone should look into that, and it's definitely something to consider before accepting a job there.

Pros

Friendly and supportive coworkers. Good environment if you're looking for a simple part-time retail job. Opportunities to learn basic customer service and retail operations.

Cons

Leadership presence on the sales floor was barren and inconsistent during busy periods, which increased the workload for frontline employees. Often felt like operational metrics and sales took priority over employee support and development. Communication from management regarding scheduling and attendance expectations was often unclear and felt impersonal. Attendance policies were enforced very strictly, with little flexibility for occasional mistakes. Limited feedback and transparency from management when workplace issues arose.
