Pros

Working in a clerical position for the county has given me an amazing amount of tools and resources for my career. I’ve been able to connect with other departments across the county, participate in events and provide assistance for the people in my community. My specific department understands the importance of work/life balance - work never comes home with me on the weekend. The benefits are great and affordable.

Cons

Uncertainty regarding federal funding, pay raises take time

Pros

There are genuinely talented and dedicated individuals within the ETI team, and I valued many of the relationships I built during my time there. The work itself had strong potential, and I found the projects engaging and meaningful. I was able to contribute across multiple areas and grow my skill set beyond my original scope, which I appreciated. I’m also grateful for the personal growth this experience required of me. It gave me the opportunity to practice discernment and integrity in a meaningful way, and I’m proud of myself for recognizing when it was necessary to step away from an environment that had become extremely stressful.

Cons

My experience was significantly impacted by leadership dynamics, particularly at the executive level. Expectations were often communicated one way in private conversations, then shifted in public settings such as team calls and executive meetings. This created a pattern of misalignment that led to confusion and, at times, being portrayed as unprepared or underperforming despite prior agreement on direction. There was also a lack of role clarity. I was frequently asked to take on responsibilities outside of what I was hired for, often without clear guidance or support. In one instance, during a team project, the introduction of a contractor midstream, combined with constant shifting expectations, created a challenging and ultimately unsustainable working environment. Over time, this inconsistency and lack of alignment and honesty became emotionally taxing and affected my overall well-being, which ultimately led to my decision to leave.
