Pros
I'm sorry but I'm drawing a complete blank here. Maybe just the fact that it beats unemployment and it's a way to pay bills?
Cons
I was one of the unfortunate to be consolidated into this department. I didn't choose to work for them and although they had a bad reputation, I decided to be optimistic and give them the benefit of the doubt. Boy was I wrong! This place turned out to be everything my co-workers and I had heard and worse! I gave it a year and saying things went downhill would be putting it lightly. People were stressed out (still are) and almost everyone I talked to was looking for another job. In my group we were expected to do things we didn't have rights for and when the customer's problem didn't get taken care of we still got the blame! Saying that management doesn't listen or is out of touch would be the understatement of the year. OET is the worse managed I.T. department (if you can call it that) I have ever seen. The CIO has let long time managers run the place into the ground. Some senior management has been let go but the ones who caused most of the problems have just been reassigned as I.T. consultants in order to keep their large salaries. It may seem like I'm exaggerating but consider this. There's been a mass exodus (myself included) in the last 6 months. However I just found out that another gentlemen who was consolidated into the organization just put in his notice because he got an job offer from another county department. Funny thing is, this guy is eligible to retire in 2 years! I think I'll have to stop here because I could probably write a book on this place. I'm glad it's behind me but I feel bad for my former co-workers still there.
