Pros
decent pay, outstanding work flexibility. You can pretty much work your own hours around your personal/family life as long as you get your 80 hours in every 2 weks, you can work pretty much make your own work schedule. decent benefits/vacation. Outstanding employees to work with. Never really had any issues with co workers in any unit..
Cons
Supervisors and Management were horrible. 90% of my supervisers were back stabbers and ass kissers who had no concept of team play or having their officers back in crunch time. And there will be a crunch time if you are an officer long enough. In my 11 years, not one time did I feel my Supervisor had my back in a crisis. The department is so concerned about getting sued that the line between officers and offenders was very blury at times of crisis. I've seen good officers and even some good supervisors who really got shafted by the department. So if you are good at politics, have no opinions and dont mind looking over your shoulder and walking on egg shells when times get a little tough, you'll love this job.
