Pros

Most staff are friendly and helpful. Trainer, Shelter staff & supervisor, Front Desk, Adoption, Control Officers & Supervisor, Media, Medical staff & vets, Foster staff & Manager and Volunteer Manager are amazing people with good vibes. Benefits are good.

Cons

Upper management mainly the Animal Control Officer does not give guidance, lack of clarity and/or training of what she wants from you. Does not spend adequate time training or giving guidance on job expectations, and not present to ask for guidance or feedback. Had to train myself and ask guidance from other leadership. Upper Management is not organized well, even though they are stating they are trying to restructure they are resistant to change things for the better. Very secretive and worried more about what others say about them on social media rather than the bottom line on getting the welfare of the animals in their care situated. Staff appear overwhelmed, overworked and afraid to say anything. They are hesitant to say anything or ask questions to upper management in fear that they will lose their jobs.

Pros

There are genuinely talented and dedicated individuals within the ETI team, and I valued many of the relationships I built during my time there. The work itself had strong potential, and I found the projects engaging and meaningful. I was able to contribute across multiple areas and grow my skill set beyond my original scope, which I appreciated. I’m also grateful for the personal growth this experience required of me. It gave me the opportunity to practice discernment and integrity in a meaningful way, and I’m proud of myself for recognizing when it was necessary to step away from an environment that had become extremely stressful.

Cons

My experience was significantly impacted by leadership dynamics, particularly at the executive level. Expectations were often communicated one way in private conversations, then shifted in public settings such as team calls and executive meetings. This created a pattern of misalignment that led to confusion and, at times, being portrayed as unprepared or underperforming despite prior agreement on direction. There was also a lack of role clarity. I was frequently asked to take on responsibilities outside of what I was hired for, often without clear guidance or support. In one instance, during a team project, the introduction of a contractor midstream, combined with constant shifting expectations, created a challenging and ultimately unsustainable working environment. Over time, this inconsistency and lack of alignment and honesty became emotionally taxing and affected my overall well-being, which ultimately led to my decision to leave.
