Marion County (Oregon)

Is this your company?

Although not everything they do makes sense, they do treat their employees well. - Environmental Services Operations Maintenance Worker Marion County (Oregon) Employee Review

Pros

You get to do something different every day if you are working as a crew member like I am, less so for those in upper level positions. I am sometimes doing office work, sometimes I am digging a hole in a ditch. It all depends of the needs of the day with my position. I am one of the lowest level workers, but their is more opportunity to move up then any other place I have worked.

Cons

Not everything that is done makes sense and sometimes it is frustrating when logistics are either not accounted for, or flat out ignored. There are certain projects that we are really proficient in getting done efficiently (like the chip seal project) it is the odd projects that are not done effectively (like doing a project that requires more equipment then we have man power to do). Also working out in the elements means that you get everything from heat waves to snow.

Cons

Commissioners are trying to negotiate a 0% cost of living increase for the next two years. Budget is reliant on tax dollars so it is always a fight to get the tools needed to do the work.
