Cons
Check the local news for insight in the current and future state of Maritz. Two weeks after the shutdown, Maritz did a combination of furloughs, layoffs and salary cuts. The company let go of the doers and kept management. I've never worked in an environment with so many managers, directors, vice-presidents and c-level employees. There are managers with no direct reports. A majority of the managers don't have a clue about developing and implementing a strategy. Business unit and corporate shared leadership did not have the emotional maturity to lead people or make financial decisions. The infighting led me to believe that they'd forgotten that we worked for Maritz and we were spending Steve's money. It's especially prevalent in Maritz IT. Leadership lacked direction and the ability to forecast issues and risks. So the organization remained in a perpetual firefight. You will also learn lots of buzz words like, "culture" and "people first." However there was no share understanding of what that truly means. Do yourself a favor. Stay away.
