Pros
- I was given lots of freedom (and responsibility). - I have worked with some really smart and knowledgeable people. - Flexible work arrangements. - Worked with multiple technologies, languages and projects. - Everyone was really friendly and helpful. - Weekly lunches are a nice treat to have. Senior management is realising that engineering and technology come first. Solid foundations will build a solid future.
Cons
The company has come a long way from since I joined. Lots of progress was made from the old "days" where engineering was being run like a sales division. However... Some days/weeks you can feel the stress and tension in the air. Everyone is really agitated and "snappy". Sometimes communication from management is frequent and clear, some other times no one really knows what's going on. Working with teams across different regions, silos and cultural friction is present. There isn't a correct balance of management and technical leadership across the different offices (located in different continents) Some periods you spend weeks just dealing with legacy issues and re-working previous systems and applications due to poor/unexisting design and planning.
