Pros

The DLC shop is managed well and available as a perk if you can find the time. With the workload of the day to day you're not going to want to hang around there though.

Cons

-College still uses dated, Build and Capture methods for imaging. You will be responsible for 50 apps for the Engineering college alone.Yes, 50 apps on the image. Build method wasn't disclosed prior to accepting position. -You will manage Windows Servers onsite, entire Group Policy -which is in disarray, AD and multiple licenses for the multitude of software and it's database they expect you to solely support. -University-wide is still using boot media, no PXE. -Entire team is 3 people including yourself and one is hourly so you can expect to be on call 50% of the time -College relies heavily on un-trained students as their helpdesk, 1st line support -you're the escalation and everything else. -No Remote Control. No Remote Desktop. Weird policy in place where you weren't allowed to remotely connect to staff/faculty computers which meant you had to physically touch machine between 2 buildings. -IT Director was totally against normal SCCM practices like using Software Center -Despite having acurated list of approved hardware management allows faculty to order whatever hardware and software desired and you will be expected to support it. -Overload of consulting work. You will spend an exorbitant amount of time with vendors on software/hardware acquisition -You will have a direct report, a student you will need to train and mentor Very unsafe area. You cant go a week without someone trespassing in your building or a student or faculty getting assaulted or robbed. Don't expect any support from management.

Pros

Schedule Flexibility. Supervisors, directors and staff care about you as an individual not just another worker. Great tuition reduction.

Cons

Below average stipend amount. Sometimes task will go above 20 hrs per week but this depends on supervisors and programs.
