Pros
Faculty and students are incredible to work with. My day to day work is engaging and interesting and I get a lot of creative freedom in my work. The dental benefits are fantastic as long as you use the faculty practice which really isn’t a sacrifice.
Cons
No meaningful raises despite outstanding performance evaluations. Health insurance is very expensive and doesn’t cover whole classes of medications. Administration/faculty relationship is strained at best - they’re constantly crying budget crisis internally then engaging in conspicuous spending, I.e. holding events at Fiserv and renovating buildings without the input of stakeholder departments. I resented the fancy new business building until I heard that they didn’t talk to business in the design process so it doesn’t have the right sized classroom spaces for them.
