Pros

The culture of a true location that isn't managed by a team of executives that only care about the bottom line is amazing!

Cons

When you have no support or are looked at as the bottom tier of the industry, you cannot maintain proper staffing levels which leaves management in the Loss Prevention field scrambling for help. When you are a bigger property such as a resort, this is much easier. Once you manager a staff of less than 5 people, It is a career killer as the expectation remains the same for a staff of 15. Which then means, as manager/director, your quality of life is reduced and you are subjected to insane work hours, impossible deadlines, and in the security field, safety and security is only a top priority once something happens that makes the hotel look bad. Corporate Integrity Investigations also sides with property HR directors to protect them at all costs in the event they are reported. In all, you are on your own.

Pros

Cafeteria offers good food for a low price. Marriott discounts at other hotels

Cons

The favoritism of employees is backed by corporate. If someone has been working here longer than you, they get to pick and choose what shifts they want. If there is an open shift they also first get to choose whether they want it or not. Lastly if there are cuts, they get to choose if they want to stay or leave before others. The favoritism doesnt stop there. The managers also make them do less sidework, and give them good sections where as new employees are the bottom of the barrel in all aspects. Honestly horrible experience. They dont care about your well being either. Im scheduled opening and closing shifts consecutively which means I get under 4 hours of sleep between shifts. Sleep deprivation is not a joke; do not recommend.
