Pros

Nice people to work with, nice atmosphere. Nice amenities (including free candy of course).

Cons

While they are a "family" company, they really don't care so much about your family. You are expected to work long hours, travel frequently and participate in "mandatory fun" activities that conflict with getting any work done, causing you to work longer to get your work done. While there are great opportunities for regular associates to move up the Mars ladder, having specialized education (graduate degrees) is seen as a bad thing and you are discouraged from saying you have specialized education. In many positions this means you will not get a promotion or increase in pay appropriate for you level of education.

Pros

I’ve been at Mars (Yorkville site) for about three months as a Quality Systems Senior Specialist, and so far it’s been a great experience. Everyone has been genuinely friendly, welcoming, and willing to help. The culture feels very supportive—people want to see you succeed and are quick to share knowledge and offer guidance. My manager has been amazing and is truly invested in my growth. She’s helped set clear expectations, encouraged development, and provided the tools and support I need to be successful.

Cons

None so far—still new, but my experience has been very positive.
