Pros
Good benefits, standard hours (in the department I was in, anyway.) Job security since they hire too few people for the amount of work.
Cons
The department I worked in at the Clinic was the most dysfunctional organization I have ever seen. Management had absolutely no clue what was going on; they gave you more and more responsibilities and then couldn't understand why everything wasn't done on time with a nice pretty ribbon on it. They would ignore the 99.9% of the good work you did and rake you over the coals for the .1% you got wrong. Way, way too much work for the number of staff, which was compounded by giving different work to one extremely difficult employee who felt they shouldn't have to do the job they were hired for. Ironic that working for a health care provider probably took years off of my life. Plus the Clinic is constantly complaining about budget woes but every week they announce they're building another new facility or buying an existing one.
