Pros

To all who consider Mastec a place for employment consider this. This is place where you can become familiar with satellite installation and get to meet great people. Mastec AT is a place where you learn to forget what a break or lunch means and furthermore, you will learn how to drive a vehicle in places that one never imagined at times you never imagined.

Cons

This a company that lives on "All of the Authority and none of the responsibility". All of the responsibility of the office metrics is laid sole upon the technician even when its beyond ones control. There is really no equality or respect among techs and the people who are in office; as soon as one walks in one could feel the negativeness. There is no such thing as a promotion or incentive at Mastec AT. Promotions or "pay increases" are incentives that are taken away with no notice and overall job compensation also will devalue with no warning. The medical insurance is the far worst I have had; one is better off buying a policy else where. As a tech, your job description is not what it is "installer" there are other job titles not mentioned. Travel is unexpected, often and very undercompensated. Job responsibilities change often and suddenly. Management is so inconsistent with policies, procedures and duties, there is no respect between them and techs. At Mastec AT there is no advancement or promotions just different duties with different pay.

We were sold off to them from Optimum. Quickly trying to become the worst company in America to work for. They took away our vacation. Our sick time. Our personal time. They took away holidays. Now they are saying that working a holiday is mandatory unless you asked it off 2 weeks before it (they gave notice of that less than a week before it). They monitor wherever you are, doing whatever, soon as that truck moves. You aren't allowed to backup. If you call in two times in a 90 day period, you're in trouble. If it gets to 8 times (the last call in continues it on) you're fired. They overwork you because they are "behind" and you're just expected to work later. We're expected to do more and for less. They even denied our merit raises saying they didn't believe in them. They don't care about your family and wanting to see them. To be able to spend time outside of work. DO NOT WORK FOR THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN HELP IT!
