Pros

Depending on your team, there can be some flexibility in your work schedule (WFH, etc.). This is entirely driven by the manager, though, and micromanagers will not allow working remotely, while someone you work with on another app can work remote on snow days or Fridays. At least on the Epic project a pro was getting certifications paid for, which can be invaluable.

Cons

Benefits aren't *great*, despite what some are saying. Time off is very minimal. You get three "weeks off", but all PTO is pooled, meaning if you have the misfortune of getting sick for a week, you lose a week of your vacation time. Absolutely incredible that a healthcare organization would penalize workers for taking sick time. No match on 403(b), and the cash retirement plan is nice, but only benefits those who are lifers here. Very low raises (1-3% a year) discourage the "last-ins", and younger, talented types to stay more than a few years as they were inflexible on negotiating starting salary. Lots of family members or friends-of-friends in the company, so losing the aforementioned talent means there can be a lot of mediocrity throughout the organization. No room for upward movement for many given that. Way too much policy and procedure which is largely a construct to legitimize the employment of fringe employees.
