Pros
The Benefits (health, time off) are excellent. The company essentially pays for your benefits so money is not deducted from your salary. Medical co-pays are the lowest I've seen anywhere. Within the HIS industry, Partners offers competetive salaries.
Cons
- The Information Systems department at Partners is dysfunctional. There are no standards or processes that are common throughout the infrastrucuture. Different hospitals/departments operate in complete isolation from one another, with virtually no communication. This makes it difficult for many analysts to do their job effectively. - Much of the technology used at Partners is home grown and archaic. If you are looking to expand your knowledge of industry standard software, forget it. - Politics dominates the culture. Obviously, this is an issue at any company, but even more so at Partners. People are often promoted to manager based solely on whom they are friends with, rather than their job skills. Innefective and poor middle/upper managers are the norm here, not the exception. - Nobody ever gets fired, no matter how poorly they perform their jobs. There is so much dead weight at Partners, it's outrageous. Many people simply collect a paycheck and do next to nothing.
