Pros

concentration of talented ambitious people, nice new building in my case, a step up in any research career, downtown location is close to everything, vibrant international community

Cons

takes 2 months for even 2-mo summer students to get paperword arranged, even if not in contact with patients. Administration processes and maintanance organisation can be surprisingly inefficient and slow for such a highly praised, Harvard affiliated institute. Have had a broken printer stand around for 2 months now. Housing is expensive nearby, bike facilities only slowly being build up, and parking impossible.

Pros

Good benefits and great team/department locally, work felt meaningful and fulfilling to contribute to larger mission

Cons

In the pre-clinical research side, the switch to Workday and subsequent restructuring of roles across MGB made the career ladder stifling and reduced advancement and pay increase opportunities
