Great place to learn but burnout is real and management needs to care more about staff - Registered Nurse Massachusetts General Hospital Employee Review

Pros

- nurses hold themselves to a high standard and is a great learning environment - patient ratios are very good (3:1 on day shifts for my general surgery unit, 4-5:1 at night) - taking time off/vacation is strongly encouraged - I work with a lot of senior nursing staff who have worked there for 3-4 decades, so retention is decent

Cons

- pay needs to increase, pay does not match cost of living in Boston - management works on behalf of administration and does not always advocate for the needs of nurses

Pros

Good benefits and great team/department locally, work felt meaningful and fulfilling to contribute to larger mission

Cons

In the pre-clinical research side, the switch to Workday and subsequent restructuring of roles across MGB made the career ladder stifling and reduced advancement and pay increase opportunities
