Pros
High starting pay, great benefits, and access to a vast knowledge base. You get a chance to meet a lot of clients in a somewhat niche market which is definitely an advantage if you just needed a job in the welding supply industry.
Cons
ALL Matheson locations were locally or regionally owned and generally successful community businesses, however; after Matheson decided to buy them all up with a VERY weak plan for getting all locations tech updated and on the same page (logistically speaking) a MASSIVE number of employees have quit because of DRASTIC management and procedural changes that have turned the whole company into a mess. And Matheson was recently purchased by Mitsubishi and have since been expected to trim the fat because that's what the Foreign investors want, so store stock supplies have been cut, and every store has been instructed to sell everything at retail unless they setup a credit approved application for a store account, in which the Matheson (corporate) get to collect debt on people who default, and all front desk clerks get to also play collections officer for their location, but now they have to enforce the corporate guidelines for what used to be handled at a hand shake level. Not to mention asset tracking on leases was a joke. I'm sure Matheson will go under or be sold off within the next 5-10 years if they don't get their act together.
