Pros

The kids & families are sweethearts and the Mathnasium Franchise Model is fantastic.

Cons

The management is always cutting corners - they don't follow Mathnasium operations policy at all so they struggle to generate enough customers to make their business profitable. They are supposed to hire qualified candidates with teaching experience, but instead have been hiring high school students and/or college students so they can pay them minimally. They don't follow proper billing procedures and despite telling customers they will be billed the first week of the month, end up billing customers later in the month which causes immense problems, insufficient funds, etc. There is no regularity to a work schedule if you don't have enough seniority - be prepared to find out your upcoming weekly schedule on a Sunday night, get called off of work sporadically or called to come on your day off, guilting you because they don't have enough instructors that day. Be prepared to become the new 'Center Director' without the pay, since the real one comes in 2 times per week, arrives an hour and a half late and leaves an hour early when there are only 4 operational hours per day . Quitting is a NIGHTMARE! It doesn't seem like anyone can leave on good terms. They will not accept a resignation without a manipulative, intimidating meeting where they try to convince and guilt employees to stay. In extreme cases, they have WITHHELD PAYCHECKS or as punishment to former employees.

Pros

Expectations were very clear, and the staff provides a lot of guidance to new tutors.

Cons

Tutoring was a bit difficult in the online format, especially when trying to write on the screen. There were some technical difficulties.
