Pros

Mathnasium was one of the most rewarding positions I've had. I loved working with the students and witnessing their improvement. Prior to teaching at Mathnasium, I worked in an office and-- although the math is simple-- it's great to have a position in which you can actually use your brain and math skills. Fellow employees, the center director, and the owner were all wonderful. There were only one or two issues with parents, but that's expected in any work environment.

Cons

The pay was really low; I wouldn't have been able to get by on my Mathnasium wage alone. The hours revolve around school hours, so the business is only open a few hours each day, which doesn't provide a sufficient opportunity to work longer to compensate for the low wage.

Pros

Rewarding. Supportive and collaborative team environment. Opportunity to develop leadership and management skills. Good mix of administrative work, customer service, and instruction. Flexible scheduling compared to many full-time office jobs.

Cons

Pay is relatively low for the level of responsibility. Some repetitive administrative tasks. Staffing shortages can require filling multiple roles at once.

Pros

Expectations were very clear, and the staff provides a lot of guidance to new tutors.

Cons

Tutoring was a bit difficult in the online format, especially when trying to write on the screen. There were some technical difficulties.
