Pros

Having lots of holidays off Working remotely

Cons

This is by far the worst company I’ve ever worked for. The micromanaging was to the that it was affecting my mental health. I was supposed to be on a high-level project, but we were always treated like absolute garbage. Personal lives were spoken about in front of other coworkers. Mistakes or performance were also spoken about in front of others. Lots of responsibilities from leadership were passed down to staff. Me and one other coworker were responsible for essentially all of the work of the entire project, with no raise. We were expected to be in a meeting, whether that was teams or Zoom the entire day and whether there was work to do or not. Screens had to be shared while working at all times even after working on the project for two years. QCs were not chosen at random like they were supposed to be. They were selected only if there was a mistake (which were very few and far in between) and when there was a mistake, we were pushed in a corner to explain ourselves. We were told that there could be absolutely no errors. I get making no errors to an extent, but making no errors at all, at all times when working for the project for such a prolonged period of time is physically impossible. My coworkers and I were in tears multiple times on multiple occasions due to not only the micromanaging, but also the way we were spoken to. To give context, we were told that we were basically incompetent and had no business being at our current position. Since leaving this job, I have had to rewire my brain to think a different way because it felt like I was being mentally abused. Overall The FL DFS project is run poorly and employees are treated like prisoners.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
