Pros

The job seemed okay at first and the trainers and management are nice in the beginning. The pay is also above average for other similar entry level positions.

Cons

There are too many layers of hierarchy, leading to poor communication between management and employees. In addition, the attendance policy is so draconian that it borders on completely ludicrous and disallows otherwise great employees from contributing anything, leading to a culture of compliance over innovation.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
