Pros

Decent base pay for the area Decent training Holiday decorating

Cons

Completely toxic work environment Zero room for advancement Ebbs and flows of work (can be very boring) Bad benefits (even though they're free) Very obnoxious rules (you can't put your coat on the back of your chair) An employee requested 3 days off due to a direct family member passing away. A month later they got a negative performance review for taking the time off. One of the Directors is best friends with one of the supervisors inside and outside of work. They constantly gossip about employees with one another, to the point multiple individuals noticed. The Director constantly comes over to the supervisor's desk and doesn't talk about anything work related. They also don't make any attempt to hide what they were doing because multiple people could hear them. It was also reported many times to the company's version of HR (HC) and nothing was done. You could tell because after being reported the behavior persisted.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
