Pros

This is a job with great pay and somewhat flexible work hours. While it is true that government projects are tentative, if Maximus likes you as an employee, they will make every effort to hire you on a new project. In other words, you need to have a strong work ethic for this company. Also, they hire those with disabilities, which is awesome.

Cons

Management tends to be disjointed and some of the mid-level supervisors attempt to pull a "power play" when in actuality they have no true power over the hiring or firing decisions. Also, some supervisors had their little "pets" that never had to work. Sick pay, vacation time, and holiday pay was not included as well as health insurance, which is ironic. There is very little in-project promotion opportunities, but there may be promotion opportunities for future projects if they like your work.

Remote, adequate training and guidance and usually everything /software works - minus regular hiccups.

Cons

Not too many - a few misunderstanding s about training classes and roles but overall, not bad.

Pros

Had a few really exceptional coworkers

Cons

One reason I was hired was to bring in new ideas and work approaches; however, when I tried implementing anything new, some of the “old school higher-ups” would balk and were never open to anything new or better. My management just looked the other way and didn’t support me. As for training, I wasn’t offered much in the way of onboarding other than being told to read a lengthy “standard operating procedures” document. No real opportunities were offered to shadow anyone so I could learn in real-time. A typical work week was 60+ hours and often stretched to 70+. It was exhausting and demoralizing. The job was not sustainable and I’ve never been more relieved to be done with a place. I cannot recommend Maximus as a place to grow your skills or to give your time. Turnover seems to be relatively high at Maximus and there are far better places to work.
