Pros

Good benefits Company has contracts with states to support health and human services, such as Medicaid and workforce services. If you are willing to relocate and your work record is good, there often are opportunities to continue with the company when a project ends. Project staff do receive recognition for good performance.

Cons

As with almost all for-profit, stockholder-owned companies, there is a strong focus on the profit margin. In some projects and company service areas, there is not a lot of career growth potential. For example, the Customer Service Representatives (CSRs) for Medicaid enrollment broker projects can move up into a supervisory position but, of course, there are a limited number of supervisors. Some corporate-level positions also offer little room for advancement. The CSRs in projects that are understaffed due to changes in the amount of work since MAXIMUS won the contract, have to endure some very negative talk from callers.
