Pros

Awesome environment - great office space, parties, unbelievable perks, food brought in for employees, retreats, amazing location. Inspiring CEO: is smart, progressive and entertaining; he has a strong vision and gives 1000%. Innovative product; the company's road map has potential for long-term success These are the smartest and most dedicated group of people I've ever worked with - I've learned a great deal from everyone. There are a handful of genuinely caring people who want to make a difference. This company pushes employees and expects the best. I've never worked these many hours and worked as hard - which in turn has helped me grow tremendously.

Cons

Long hours and in some cases, unrealistic expectations from management. I initially believed this company was different then traditional corporate. On the outside it is (the perks, unique work environment, funny website). However, once I got here, I was disappointed. It feels a little like smoke and mirrors. Here's the deal...I only share this so your eyes are open if you chose to work here. There are some awesome benefits - the best I've ever experienced. However, be aware of the following: - Training and job resources are decent. But once you begin your job, in general, you have to rely on coworkers to get up to speed. Many of those coworkers are also new and depending who you ask, you'll receive a different answer. Management still expects perfect results and quick turnaround times. -Inexperienced management. - Be careful who you trust. There's lots of smiling and excitement, but keep your guard up. - At times can feel like a cut throat environment.

It really saddens me to hear that you don't feel you can trust everyone here. That's fundamental to who we are and the key to our success. Maxwell should never feel cut-throat. We've taken on a giant problem in the American healthcare system, and we'll only accomplish what we need to as a cohesive team. Let's talk about ways we can address this issue, please, please come talk to me! In regards to training, some of this comes with the nature of a startup - we're inventing new technologies and processes every day, so there will always be room to improve. Our team members and our internal team wiki are front-line resources to share best practices and institutionalize processes. We do a lot already in terms of training, including coaching, mentoring, bringing in outside expertise, formal and informal courses (both for our own teams and the community), documentation of best practices, expert talks, etc, but we’re always looking to improve, and we need your feedback in order to do so! You should ALWAYS feel empowered to reach out to anyone on our team - our management especially - for a one-on-one meeting. There is nothing more important in my job than to make sure your voice is heard, and to that end, I've already scheduled meetings with every single person on our team starting next week. Take advantage of that time, and if you want to meet with me or anyone else sooner, all you have to do is ask. You should never feel like there will be consequences for voicing your concerns - this company is yours, and you have a responsibility to speak up if you disagree with a decision or you have an idea to help us improve. I mean that. -Kelsey Sullivan

Pros

I've worked at a lot of places over the years so I've developed a strong sense of "red flags" over my time. Before I accepted a position at Maxwell I wanted to meet the founders because I've learnt the hard way that the culture of a company generally starts from the top down. Luckily for me the founders at Maxwell are both incredible and honestly, truly, want to build an amazing company that makes benefits better in America. They are both incredibly passionate about Maxwell, and the mission, and they live up to their own values constantly. If you're reading this you probably already know how rare that is, and how often values disappear when money is on the table. This is not the case at Maxwell and it makes me proud to be here. The other big pro (and when it comes down to it what else really matters) are the people at Maxwell. Incredibly smart, hard working, and just downright nice people surround me every day I'm at work and it's a constant pleasure to work with them. Everyone is genuinely committed to doing whatever it takes for our customers and I've witnessed people really going out on a limb to help in any way they can. Oh, and a minor point but we're starting to build up a really strong remote work culture which I personally think is incredibly important.

Cons

I honestly don't have a huge amount to write about here. Our problems are similar to any company of this age and size, some tech debt to fight, struggles to get conference rooms because we've grown so fast, and touchy wifi! Nothing major to complain about.
