Fair and balanced, but don't expect to work with geniuses. - General Manager McAlister's Employee Review

Pros

The management at McAlister's understands the work/life balance and encourages all corporate employees to use vacation.

Cons

Two big downsides come to my mind immediately. For one, there is no mentoring. My boss takes very little time with me to help me learn (and I'm young, so I want to learn as much as possible). I don't need much hand holding or classroom time, but I do want to feel engaged. Also, the senior management doesn't seem to realize that in a franchised company, there is great insight to be had by the FRANCHISEES and that corporate could actually learn something from the franchisees who run the restaurants on a day to day basis. It's no surprise that the company owned restaurants do far worse than the franchised ones.

Pros

i worked with nice people, people who worked harder got more hours and people would chip in and help eachother (i worked in the back but i helped up front during rush hour sometimes, and sometimes my coworkers would come help me) and i got a free meal for working a full shift

Cons

the night shift doesnt have a lot of people, and big rushes can happen.
