Pros

Very good company for long term growth potential as an individual, both with your career and your finances. If you are struggling performance-wise, they give you a fair shot and time period to turn it around instead of just firing you like at some other GC's. ESOP is structured by design to reward people who are in it for the long haul. Company has very healthy balance sheet. Company aims to keep people with less than <5 yrs tenure within similar pay ranges for respective titles, I think this is to give everyone new as fair of a shot as possible and avoid nepotism hires.

Cons

Because of McCarthy's long-term stability structure & planning, individuals starting out may find the base salary is less than the competition, particularly over the course of the last 2 years. This isn't just for staff; McCarthy offering good benefits and long term career growth as a tradeoff for a lower hourly rate can make 1st-year craft retention particularly low. This can at times make hiring for upcoming projects difficult and/or delayed.

Pros

Great company culture, exposure to some amazing projects, project teams are fantastic, camaraderie with your team, great resources and onboarding to ensure you learn to do your job well. ESOP and bonuses are great.. if you stick it out long enough.

Cons

Pay is not as competitive as other GC's, you can be relatively underpaid as they rely too heavily on preaching about the ESOP (which takes you 5 years to even be fully vested). Can be very political and leadership kinda plays favorites, some people who dont deserve it get promoted quick and others who do deserve it never get promoted. Long work hours and depending on the jobsite it can be pretty high-stress (but thats just construction for ya).
