Pros

If you are looking for a boost into management experience straight out of high school without college experience then Mcdonalds is a great place to start. They offer great advancement opportunities if you are dedicated and they train will train you in their management program. The management program is very extensive and ultimately translates into college credits once you have gone through a few of the classes.

Cons

At the store level the managers only take one or two classes and often are more efficient in the paperwork and numbers side of managing but not as skilled when it comes to dealing with the employees. Also, you'll be hard pressed to find a store in which the managers and/or employees take all of the policies seriously so you'll often times see ineffective people holding positions that they are not qualified to work. In other words, there needs to be some Human Resources reform at the store level.

Free food during shift when you were able to be put on break

Lack of care for basic cleanliness was common. The dispensers for sweet tea were not properly cleaned and covered, and were often full of bugs they attracted. When I brought this up to management they blew me off and acted annoyed I brought it up. They would also complain under their breath for employees briefly going to wash their hands, as required by law, after clocking in, coming back from a break, after using the restroom, and other times it was needed (such as after cleaning something or handling money before then touching food). The brooms used to clean the floors were filthy and extremely poor quality. Did not properly address employee health especially mental health (such as when they were understandably distressed by customers exhibiting very inappropriate behavior such as cursing/shouting at workers, throwing things etc)
