I had the unfortunate experience of working for McKesson, and I must say it was nothing short of a nightmare. This company boasts about its policies and management, but in reality, they are nothing but hypocrites. First and foremost, McKesson's approach to employee training is abysmal. It's clear that they favor certain individuals based on their appearance and not their qualifications. The company seems to go by faces rather than actual skills and expertise. This favoritism creates a toxic work environment where those who are deserving of opportunities are overlooked in favor of the chosen few. One of the most frustrating aspects of working at McKesson is the complete lack of room for growth. I've seen colleagues who have been with the company for over eight years, still stuck at the same pay and level. It's disheartening to witness such a lack of recognition for hard work and dedication. To make matters worse, McKesson enforces a draconian points system that feels more like a prison sentence than a workplace policy. If you're even a minute late or have to call out due to unforeseen circumstances, you'll accrue points. It's a rigid system that leaves no room for human error or compassion. This approach only breeds anxiety and fear among employees, rather than fostering a supportive and collaborative environment. The management at McKesson is equally disappointing. It's abundantly clear that many of them lack the knowledge and skills required for their roles. They often fail to perform their duties as they should, leaving employees to fend for themselves. Instead of providing guidance and support, they seem more interested in playing the role of security guards, monitoring our every move. The turnover rate at McKesson is alarming. Several of my colleagues were either fired or quit during my time there, and I couldn't help but wonder why so many employees were leaving. It raises questions about the role of HR in addressing these issues and ensuring a healthy work environment. It's disheartening to see how McKesson places more trust in its supervisors and managers than in the hardworking employees who are the backbone of the company. The lack of recognition and opportunities for advancement, combined with the oppressive policies and questionable management, make it clear that McKesson is not a company that truly values its employees. I would strongly caution anyone considering a position with McKesson to think twice before accepting an offer, as this company has a long way to go in terms of treating its employees with the respect and fairness they deserve. All in all, working at McKesson felt like being trapped in a soul-sucking, authoritarian regime. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone seeking a fulfilling and fair workplace. It's a place where meritocracy is thrown out the window, and employees are treated as expendable commodities. Steer clear of McKesson if you value your sanity and career growth.

Pros

1. relatively aloof culture for ICs to grow on their own 2. on and off few people are good 3. Actually consultants in india are better than some full time hires to work with. The h1bs in full time roles and some GCs/Americans are just 1 step away from unemployment line but there are some good quality consultants who can be directed well to bring in good work. Problem is lack of direction when middle management is just running after money.

Cons

1. top most management is clueless to what is going post the middle tier 2. middle tiers - VPs/SVPs/Directors and Sr. Directors are among the worst. Mostly cast offs from Consulting firms/Tech cos/Other Healthcare firms, this group has some of the worst, clueless folks who just think very narrowly about how to get rid of problems, maybe craft a story for higher ups. Get rid of this layer ( so called people management ) and co. could shine better on the work of ICs, decent software engineers and regular rank and file. 3. Main money maker distribution is different from tech group and the IT here is almost comical - 2 years ago in 2024 there were "directors" bringing AI agents with 90% hallucination .. I mean that has got to be an industry first!
