Pros
Great benefits day 1, pay is very good for starting off.
Cons
Very long hours when making deliveries especially as a new driver on extra board. If you dont mind running up and down a ramp making up to 21 delivery stops of a couple thousand pounds at times then it may be fine with you. As an extra board driver you will be on call 6 days a week and expected to be available no matter what. Its nearly impossible to have a life outside of work. So if you have a family or hobby you are involved with, it will be on the back burner until you accept a permanent bid route, where you will learn your set schedule, however odd it may be. You have to go above and beyond often without extra compensation for the amount of effort put in. If you go on a local load that should take 18hrs (team) but you are out for 30hrs for whatever reason, you both must get it done and make it back safely, before they text you to confirm your next load. Loads can be anywhere from 20mi away to 700mi away but you wont know until you receive your text the morning of the load. This job is more suited for those who don't mind being away from home or their family and have no life outside of work. They pay well but make no mistake, you will earn it and be exhausted!
