Pros
Co-workers were easy to get along with. The job itself is pretty simple. Pay is pretty good for what you do. Bonuses are given out for being noticed as a good/hard worker. You can use your badge at the cafeteria/stores in the hospital, which is deducted from your pay.
Cons
The “bonus” you’ll receive is a free lunch card. While it is appreciated, it isn’t enough for the work you have to do to receive one. Floor Technicians are very understaffed. Expect to be overworked every day. Management in the EVS department were aloof, out of touch and disorganized. Supervisors will literally follow you around (even after saying they won’t do that in front of management). Supervisors will tell you one thing while the Assistant Director and Director will tell you something else. Very confusing and frustrating! Training was inadequate and you’ll be expected to do things you were never trained for and expected to do it well. You’re constantly on-call and if someone calls out, expect to do their work AND yours plus whatever calls you have to respond to. Then you’ll be admonished for not being able to finish your work while you’re doing other peoples work AND having to field calls all day. VERY disorganized! Other EVS techs will refuse to field certain calls or do part of their job and you’ll be expected to do it, despite your work load without any action from management. Management doesn’t want to get rid of people because so many have already gotten fed up and left so the workers don’t care and slack off and management doesn’t do anything about it as they don’t want to fire anybody. Insurance is high.
