Great people, great location, great prospects - Senior Software Engineer MeLLmo Employee Review

Pros

Awesome team with exceptionally smart people. Small company with great prospects means your work has a big impact. Product itself is excellent -- something you're proud to work on. The new CEO has unified the company around a coherent product vision and is lining up high value deals and partnerships like it's going out of style. Work/life is very well balanced compared to a lot of startups. Office is literally across the street from the beach -- surfing at lunch is a thing.

Cons

The company went through some tough times and had to lay off some good people. Luckily things are looking MUCH more promising these days. Budgets are still a bit tight, meaning perks and benefits are a bit thinner than similar sized companies.

Pros

MeLLmo (makers of Roambi) is mid-sized tech start-up in Solana Beach, CA (about 20 miles north of San Diego). Most of the 70ish employees have been with the company for years, but there's a great influx of fresh blood recently as well. Awesome office right across the street from the beach and surrounded by great restaurants, as well as a train stop making commuting from downtown San Diego very easy. Laid back vibe yet everyone works hard. The product the company makes is very solid and sits nicely at the intersection of cloud, mobility, and data. There's a ton of interesting growth opportunities for the company. Awesome board of directors and the management team is pushing in the right directions. It's an exciting time to be at MeLLmo.

Cons

The company was building business apps for iOS before almost anyone else, and probably tried to grow too big too fast. That likely resulted in some mis-steps and made things a bit chaotic, but very few start-ups have a perfectly smooth growth path.
