Pros
This is a company with a lot of money to buy new stuff. They pride themselves on being on the cutting edge of HEMS technology and safety, and I've worked with a lot of nice new equipment in my tenure there. There are opportunities for promotion outside of your base if you're a go-getter and can make friends up the management chain; these offers would frequently require relocation.
Cons
There are many models of helicopter EMS programs for which Med-Trans is the vendor. My personal belief is that, in their expansion plan, they would rather be a vendor (i.e., supply the aircraft and trained pilots) than run an entire flight program (i.e., managers and field staff/ clinicians). They are pretty weak on HR matters and mitigating commonplace conflicts that arise within bases/programs. They will side with the program manager as a matter of course, and the employee who works where the rubber (or the skid) meets the road is at a disadvantage. They do, however, promote non-management employees from bases to participate in specific programs within the corporate footprint, such as a supply chain re-design group or a safety organization.
